I was a little nervous going into to this fusion|atl because we had taken off all summer for Camps and other youth events. I was hoping for atleast 200 people to show up and WOW was I amazed at the turn out. I was told that we had OVER 300 in attendance Friday night at our 3rd fusion|atl for 2007! I remember looking back during the Worship and seeing people lined up against the wall, and watching some young men put chairs down the aisle, and I realized once again that this is a HUNGRY Generation that's ready to see Jesus do His thing!
Besides the attendance record, my dream of seeing different Oneness groups come together also happened! We had some Independent Apostolic, ALJC, and UPC churches represented...it had to make God smile.
Before I share a little of what we talked about Friday night (for those who MISSED it), let me take a little time to THANK some special people. THANK YOU to the fusion Worship Team, to the Revival Center Sign Team, to Atlanta West's Youth Choir/Sign Team, and all of the people who helped make this fusion|atl a great success. THANK YOU to Micahael Patterson and the Faith Tabernacle crew who hosted the event and helped with set-up, sound, and cleaning up afterwards. THANK YOU to Kenny French (www.paradox-studios.org) who produced the fusion|atl Video Promo posted on YouTube, and my personal EC page. (Thanks in advance too for the NEW Video Promo we're already working on)
In case you weren't there, I titled my message, "The Power of ONE!" I read from (John 17:18-23/ NIV) where it says, “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. 19 For them I sanctify myself, that they too may be truly sanctified.
20 "My prayer is not for them alone. I pray also for those who will believe in me through their message, 21 that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us so that the world may believe that you have sent me. 22 I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one: 23 I in them and you in me. May they be brought to complete unity to let the world know that you sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.”
Jesus’ prayer for the generation standing in front of him and for the generations to come was for them to understand “The Power of ONE!” His prayer was for the generations of believers to preach Jesus Christ and focus on their oneness; for the believers to be in complete unity with each other!
I asked our generation some questions like:
What would happen if our generation became “color blind?”
What would happen if our generation erased denominal lines?
What would happen if our generation traded religion for relationship?
What would happen if our generation traded traditions for truth?
What would happen if our generation stopped “going to church” and BECAME the church?
What would happen if our generation stopped protecting the Gospel and started PROCLAIMING the Gospel?
What would happen if our generation stopped being members of our churches and started being Missionaries for Jesus Christ?
What would happen if our generation talked about Jesus as much as we talk about everything else?
What would happen if our generation stopped judging one another for our differences and our lack of “sameness” and supported each other because of our oneness?
What would happen if our generation were to release some John the Baptists who would preach with out compromise the message of Repentance and Baptism and simply point everybody to Jesus?
What would happen if our generation would get Peter “off the roof” and delivered from his “rooftop religion” so he could give Cornelius and the whole house full of “HUNGRY” people the message they were ready to receive and the Spirit fell while Peter was speaking and everyone in the house was filled with the Spirit and began speaking in other tongues?
What would happen if our generation received tonight, the revelation of “The Power of ONE?”
ONE LORD
ONE FAITH
ONE BAPTISM
ONE GOD
ONE SPIRIT
ONE MISSION
ONE MESSAGE
ONE BODY
ONE VOICE
So whether you have ONE Service or Two Services on Sunday it doesn’t matter!
Whether you like Black Gospel, Contemporary or Country Worship Music it doesn’t matter!
Whether you have strobe lights, can lights, fluorescent lights or use FLASH LIGHTS it doesn’t matter!
Jesus did NOT PRAY that we would be the SAME…He PRAYED that we would be ONE! He prayed that we would be UNIFIED! He prayed that we would experience fusion!
Remember the definition of fusion is a merging of diverse elements into a unified whole; an occurrence that involves the production of a union; the act of fusing (or melting) together.
So, fusion|atl is a merging together of diverse elements (different churches, different styles, different personalities) into a unified whole or union!
fusion|atl is about young people in the Atlanta area coming together and forgetting about our differences, our youth group names, what church we're from or what label we carry! It's about coming together and realizing that IF we are going to leave a mark on our world then we had better join hands and hearts and start doing something NOW!
What would happen in the State of Georgia IF this Generation became ONE?
What would happen in our cities IF this Generation became ONE?
What would happen in our local churches IF this Generation became ONE?
What would God be able to accomplish thru this Generation IF we became ONE?
May Jesus' prayer be answered thru this generation of Believers as we UNITE together for the purpose of pointing people to Jesus Christ! It is still all about Him...
